Why you always listen to the traffic cop

Maybe you live by a school or by some other awkward part of town where the civil engineers took into consideration how traffic would affect movement in the town 30 years ago, right around before all the developments started popping up. Whatever the case, you occasionally see an overweight man wearing a bright yellow vest waving and pointing and doing what every little kid is told to be rude to all the cars in the street.

FYI, he hates his life.

Let's be honest here. Not all traffic cops are like this

No, they're probably more like this

Possibly like this

So yeah. Unlikely candidate for winner of the "I love my job" award.

ANYWAY.

Bright round man (BRM) normally directs traffic in the morning by campus so future doctors don't get run over by other future doctors (ironic?). Future doctor in front of me was tired of waiting for his turn. To be fair, there were no people crossing the road anymore and there wasn't any traffic going into the parking lot he was trying to turn into. So he turned. BRM was not pleased, and motioned for the car to stop after he made the turn. Said car did not stop and continued to look for parking, presumably because he was about to be late for his 9 am class.

This was a mistake.

BRM became very unhappy, and motioned for me to stay where I was (as well as everyone else in the intersection). He got into his patrol car and did a burnout in reverse to go off to find impatient med student.

That's really the end of my story. In my head, the poor dude got pwned by BRM, or at least a very stern talking to, making him late for his class anyway.

This isn't the first time I've witnessed a BRM getting very angry at a person that was trying to work their way around them. Last time was a car trying to go straight after some phone workers finished moving wire in front of us. I think that dude might have actually gotten a ticket.

Moral of the story: always listen to traffic cop, because traffic cop is always unhappy. It's not personal, it's just their job.
